About Us

first and foremost, we listen

This is Bec

I provide construction procurement/tendering, contracting and project delivery support. I also provide advice about the laws, regulations and rules that govern building and construction projects.

I have nearly 20 years’ experience supporting government (local and state), asset owners, contractors and consultants to understand and negotiate contracts, address project risks, comply with contractual obligations and deliver projects. I have also negotiated my own home renovation contract, and responded to a “building notice” – received two days before settling the sale of a new property! – from a Victorian local council.

My experience – work and personal – informs the way I work: I delight in using the law to facilitate (not delay) business. I understand that construction law (particularly the regulatory environment) can be challenging (and I’m here to help you navigate it). I have a “future focussed” approach, and I’ll work to help avoid contract and project problems before they happen.

I am a lawyer admitted to practice in Victoria (and Australia). I am also a Lecturer (in construction law) at the University of Melbourne, and I chair Wellness In Infrastructure (check this organisation out here – and buy it a coffee! It does the very important work of improving the mental health of professionals working in Australia’s infrastructure and construction industry).

I’m also a mum (one fur baby, one human baby). And I have those invaluable mum-hood skills: program management, I am organised (well in advance …), and I care

How we can help

First and foremost, I listen: how can I help? What would you like to achieve, by when?

If you’re after speedy advice – I’ll work remotely (to ensure that travel doesn’t impact progress and timing).

If you’d like a lawyer to join your team – I’ll roll up my sleeves, immerse myself in your workforce … and I’ll even work in your site office (although I’ll speak with you first if that requires travel outside metro-Melbourne!).

If you’d like to be represented in an important negotiation – I’ll be there with my game face on.

If you’d like to do the work yourself, but would like some support behind the scenes – I’ll be your ghost writer.

If you’d like your team to have the experience, with some support to “get it right” – I’ll train them up and work with them to give them the skills and knowledge they need.

I’m open to discussing working arrangements that will help you achieve what you’d like to achieve.
