What we do
What we do best
Every project is different, so our support is tailored to what you need. From procurement and contracts to negotiation, risk, compliance, claims and training, we provide clear, practical advice to help you navigate complexity, avoid unnecessary problems and move forward with confidence. Learn more about our services below:
Procurement and tendering: finding a builder, contractor, supplier, consultant
We can help you decide you will procure your project, including supporting you to find key contractors, consultants and suppliers. We can advise you about the content of tender documentation (including a request for quote/proposal) and the way in which you can evaluate tenders having regard to your project needs.
Risk identification and management
We can contribute to risk management exercises, which inform the allocation of contract risk and the preparation of contract terms.
Throughout your project, we can support risk reviews and advise you and your team about using the contract mechanisms to respond to project risks.
Third party engagement
We can provide you with the support you need to engage with project stakeholders and manage interface risks.
Where relevant to your project, we can advise you in relation to your engagement with utility authorities, local government/councils and other contractors/consultants, including reviewing and negotiating the terms of tripartite deeds and interface agreements.
We can also advise you about complying with your obligations under statutory consents and approvals.
Risk and contract selection
Informed and equipped with an understanding of the risks that “keep you up at night” and your project goals, we can advise you about contract terms that allocate those risks efficiently.
We can support you to decide the suite of contracts that will support your project effectively and prepare those contracts for you.
Negotiation
We love supporting you to “do a deal”. We are skilled and professional negotiators, who can advise you about negotiation strategy to avoid prolonged contract negotiations. We are also ready and willing to negotiate on your behalf, or alongside your commercial and legal team.
Contract administration and claims management
We can help you decide you will procure your project, including supporting you to find key contractors, consultants and suppliers. We can advise you about the content of tender documentation (including a request for quote/proposal) and the way in which you can evaluate tenders having regard to your project needs.
Secondments
We work flexibly. Rebecca has strong experience working “in house”, including as in-house legal counsel, project counsel and as a member of project leadership teams.
If you would prefer to have us “roll our sleeves up” and join your team (rather than provide support with isolated tasks), we are here to help.
Regulatory advice
We appreciate that the laws that regulate building, construction and infrastructure projects throughout Australia are many, varied, located across many different documents and can be confusing.
We can advise you about what the laws require of you, and how you comply with them.
Education and training
We develop and deliver training seminars for your project team about any of the matters to which our “Services” relate.
Rebecca holds a Graduate Certificate of Education (Monash University) and has long experience teaching construction law at the University of Melbourne and Monash University.
